PNW Continues to Tread Water

Purdue University Northwest likes to share this idea of “powering onward,” but for many on campus, it feels more like stalling out. Instead of building a reputation, PNW keeps running into the same problems that frustrate students and faculty. Underfunded & Overstretched? Purdue North Central operated in the black under Chancellor Dworkin. Chancellor Holford continues the newly merged university's tradition of shrinking resources due to declining enrollment. Poor Reputation PNW is often seen as “Purdue Light” rather than a serious school. Without strong leadership, the school risks being overshadowed by other colleges and universities in Indiana. “Power Onward” feels like a tagline masking the truth: PNW is falling behind.

Re: the statement made by Chancellor Keon at the graduation ceremony on December 10th. Purdue Northwest has been continuously stating that they are a diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus, yet Chancellor Keon comfortably but mocked Asians at the December 10th, 2022 commencement. I implore you to think about Chancellor Keon's comment and understand the effect this will have on our diverse community at Purdue Northwest. We need chancellor Keon to resign for the sake of our university. As the leader of the PNW Respecting, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Team, Chancellor Keon should have been aware of the hurt comments like this cause. Edit: I hid the many comments, but did not delete them. Personal attacks of the professor or his family do not belong in this space. Edit 2 (6 Jan 2023): All I want is my grade to reflect the syllabus => that would be removing the minus from my grade and an apology from the professor. I feel I was not given an opportunity to earn a high grade in the course nor was I given a reasonable opportunity to learn the material. I don't think he is a bad person. I think he made a poor choice given a lack of understanding of accommodations and that the university needs to better train professors in what accommodations are for, why they're given to students, and how they protect both the student and the professor. I am apprised of a current student who feels his/her accommodations are currently lacking and that the university is not doing their due diligence in protecting his/her academic interests or honoring their legal obligations.
